DELMAR HERMAN HANSON Delmar Herman Hanson passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on June 4, 2000 at the age of 66 years following a courageous battle with cancer. Del was born in Cereal, Alberta on August 8, 1933 and was raised in Sedalia and Oyen, Alberta. He joined the RCMP in 1953 and served in many communities in Manitoba. He retired from the force after being stationed in Gillam in 1980. He went on to work with the Manitoba Attorney Generals Department retiring in 1993. He then worked with both Canada Elections and Manitoba Elections. Del was very active in sports throughout his life and will be inducted in the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame on June 6. He was also involved in curling, tennis, badminton and was an avid hunter. Del was also active in the Royal Canadian Legion No. 4 where he served as Chairman of the Poppy Committee. Del leaves to cherish his memory his wife Muriel Hanson; his children Kevin, Lisa OHara (Sean) and Brent (Toni) his grandchildren Aidan, Connor and Delaney. He is also survived by his brother Roald Hanson (Pat) his sister Shirley McDonald, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Del was predeceased by his parents, his brother Manley and nephew Brian. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8 at the Westwood Community Church, 333 Westwood Drive. A private family interment will be held on a later date in Regina, Saskatchewan.
