Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MARY SUTHERLAND (nee ROHLOFF) Peacefully, on Friday, June 2, 2000 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, Helen Mary Sutherland passed away, age 93. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Alice (Gordon) Palmer, Sarnia, Janet (Bruce) Bodner, Calgary, son William (Arlene). Grandchildren, Linda, Arlington. VA., Brian (Ivey), Raleigh, N.C., Robert (Heidi) Palmer, Livonia, MI; Derek (Kathrine) and Christopher Bodner, Calgary; Laurell (John) McTavish, Donald Sutherland, of Toronto, Kim (Joe) Campbell, Calgary. Great-grandchildren, Chandel & Daniel Bodner, Hannah Bodner, Alastair and Ellyn McTavish, Natasha and Damon Campbell, also two sisters-in-law, Chrissie Martin, Winnipeg and Lil Sutherland, Burnaby. She will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across Canada and the USA. She was especially thankful for her friends Doll, Cecile, Vi, Joan and nephew David Procter. Special thanks to Dr. M. McConnell and health care worker Brenda. She was predeceased by her loving husband William in 1983, her father and mother Fred and Rebecca Rohloff, sisters Queen Langton & Gertie Procter, brother John, and grandson Darrel Bodner. Helen was born in Winnipeg, January 25, 1907. She started school in the first class of students at Centennial School in 1913. Subsequently she attended Victory School. Helen was an active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years . It was there she met and married Bill in 1932. They were fortunate to celebrate their 50th Anniversary in 1982. Helen was a Past Worthy President of Winnipeg Power Council No. 44 Ladies of the Universal Craftsmen Council of Engineers in 1956, Past Grand Worthy President of Ladies Grand Council of U.C.C. of E. 1972 -1973. She was also a member of Patricia Chapter No. 8 O.E.S. joining in 1953 and has been a faithful and willing member ever since. Helens interests revolved around her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her church and fraternal activities, traveling extensively with her husband on visitations to Councils across Canada and the U.S.. She was very skilled and received great enjoyment and satisfaction from her handicraft hobbies. All family Xmas trees include decorations made by "Grandma". She was also an avid card player. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, June 07 at 1: 00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 232 Kennedy St. with Pastor Robert Harris officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing, may make a donation in Helens memory to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 155 Bannerman Avenue, Winnipeg, R2W 0T3, or to a charity of ones choice.
