EDWARD ROBERT BERTHELETTE 1959 - 2000 Eddy went to sing, dance and giggle with the angels on June 2, 2000 at St. Josephs Hospital in Comox Valley at the young age of 41. He is survived by his beloved children, Natasha and Adrian; his sisters, Patsy (Philip), Faye (Rene), Carol (Ethan) his brother Craig (Malie) and many, many uncles aunties, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Lawrence and Florence and his memeres and peperes. Eddy was born in Pine Falls and raised in Powerview, Manitoba. He set out exploring the west at the tender age of 18 and finally settled on Vancouver Island. The Boogie Man started Boogie Beach Boxes in 1984 in Victoria and eventually moved to Courtenay and made it is home. He called it paradise. He continued to please people with his beautiful boxes until he could physically no longer do it. He was very happy that Boogie Beach will continue to grow with his nephews Jason and Kris. He surrounded himself by music. He loved singing and playing guitar. Harmonicas (harps) were his passion and he excelled at it. Eddy especially enjoyed playing with a local band, Pacific Disturbance. His sweet smile, sparkling eyes and impish grin lit up the rooms he walked into and will live on in all of us. He loved and was very much loved by all who knew him, especially children. He received the Silver Medal of Merit from the Lieutenant Governor for heroically saving two people caught in a whirlpool at Stotan Falls. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he decided to choose quality of life over quantity. He surrounded himself by those he loved and lived the rest of his life to the fullest. The family would like to thank Dr. Davies and the second floor nurses at St. Josephs for their wonderful, tender care, the devoted ladies who provided Eddy with homecare and all of his friends for being there for him. "Death is the end of a life, not a relationship." WE LOVE YOU EDDY. You will be in our hearts forever. There will be a celebration of Eddys life on Wednesday, June 7 (his fathers birthday) at the Fallen Alders Community Hall, 3395 Royston Road, Cumberland at 1:00 p.m. There will be an open mike at the service for any of Eds family or friends that would like to say a few words.
