FERNAND J. VIAU Peacefully on June 3, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital Fernand passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Lawrence (Rosalie), Gerard (Gerry) of Calgary, AB; one sister Sr. Marguerite Viau; sister-in-law Anna Viau; brother-in-law Minty Larusson (Mamie) of Mississauga, ON; grandchildren, Lisa, David and Craig; great-grandchildren, Jade, Amanda, Angelica, Ardelle and Jacob. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Fernand was predeceased by his loving wife Anna Mae in 1988. Fernand received his education at St. Boniface College. He was elected Liberal MP of St. Boniface in 1946 and served 12 years. Prayers will be held Tuesday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m. also in the church with Fr. Gerry Sembrano officiating. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Fernand to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
