ROSS LLOYD WILLOWS M.D. Yes, he really was Mr. Nice Guy! Dr. Willows graduated in medicine in 1943 in Manitoba. He took P.G. training in Obstetrician and Gynecology at Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. He took over the practice of Dr. Fred McGuiness and practiced with Dr. Paul Adams, Dr. James Mitchell and Dr. Campbell McLean whom he held in high regard. He served as the head of the Winnipeg Obstetrics and Gynecology at the St. Boniface General Hospital for 15 years. He took a short term missionary trip to East Africa and represented the World Health Organization in maternal and child welfare mission in Iran. He was part of the leadership of the Christian Business Mens Committee and served on the National Board. Before his retirement he spent ten years as Medical Director of the Concordia Hospital. He was an active member of the Canadian Board of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and was actively involved in the Christian Medical and Dental Society, of which he became the Canadian Chairman. He was grateful for the support of his wife Adele and his children, Ross Wendell and Judith Elaine. He enjoyed and had much love from his grandchildren, Lee, Alexander Jerome, Thomas Liam, Morgan and Noah. He was predeceased by his daughter Judy and his grandson Alexander. During his retirement he was involved in the Board of Creative Retirement of Manitoba and served as chairman for two years. He has been a member of the Gideons for years. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the Care Givers, the Doctors and the Nurses and all who were so very kind. We especially wish to set apart the person who was always there for him, Dr. Morley Cohen. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
