Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLA MARY BOOTHROYD (nee KIDD) Life, for a lady who journeyed through life helping others, came to a quiet close at Grace Hospital after Vi Boothroyd joined her mother on the other side on Monday, June 5, 2000. She was idolized by her husband Frank Boothroyd and son Ralph of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her Mother and Father; brothers, Baby Arthur and Elmer (William) Kidd. Vi is survived by her sister-in-law Anna Kidd; nephews, Ron, William, and Donald; niece Cindy Kidd Madden; great-nephew Tom Madden who are all honorary pallbearers. As well as great nieces and nephews. Vi was born in Mexico of Scottish parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Kidd arriving in Winnipeg at the age of two. Vi attended Linwood School and graduated from there. Vi was married to Frank in 1933 and they were together 66 years (2000). Vi was a very old fashioned lady with strong beliefs in God, honesty, straight talk and hard work. Vi took great pride in her home cooking and work; everything must be kept like new, spotless and shining. As written on her wall, Vi would say, "Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God." "I can do all things, through Christ who strengthens me, you can make your life what you want it to be, through belief in God and yourself." The family thanks the many visitors, for good wishes and cards with humble appreciation. Special mention to Vis old friend, Margaret Torgeson along with the nurses on 3rd & 4th floors, Grace Hospital as well as the doctors who did their best to keep her comfortable during her long stay. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Chaplain Major Gordon Jarvis officiating. Eulogy will be by Anna Kidd and Cindi Kidd Madden. In lieu of flowers, friends may remember her with donations to the Salvation Army, Grace Hospital.
