WILLIAM (BILL) ARTHUR McDOWELL It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of William (Bill) McDowell on Friday, June 2, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre with his wife Francoise by his side. Bill was born in Winnipeg on January 18, 1938. He was predeceased by his father William White McDowell in 1965 and his mother Isabel Chantigny in 1999. Left to cherish Bills memory are his beloved wife Francoise (nee Galerme) dog Jessie; Aunt Lorreta Crowe and all Bills family. In his early years, Bill was an avid hockey player, playing his junior hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs. He was employed with M.T.S., retiring in 1994, where upon he moved to Arnes to relax and enjoy his retirement with his new found friends. Bill was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In Bills memory, a mass will be celebrated in France, by the Galerme family. A memorial service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB, 1st Ave. on Friday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Legion Padre Ray Sutton presiding. Special thanks to Bills devoted friends, Jack and Audrey Hinchey, Ray Broschuk and Diane, for their help during his illness and also to Dr. Rosser and staff at Heath Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9.
