ALEXANDRA (ALICE) STEFFIE NOWICKI (nee PROTASIEWICZ) Alice Nowicki, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away June 6, 2000 at Park Manor Personal Care Home. Alice is survived by her son Ron and daughter-in-law Loretta, grandson Patrick (Tracey), granddaughter Renee and grandson Jason; great granddaughters, Randi, Jenna and Amy. She is also survived by her brother Emil Protosavage and sister-in-law Mary; sisters-in-law, Mamie Protosewicz, Ollie Norwick and Aggie Protosavage; brothers-in-law, Bob Gunow Sr. and Stan Nowicki (Anne) many nieces and nephews, cousins and old friends. Alice was predeceased by her youngest son Donald, age 3, in 1948; her husband Anthony (Tony) in 1982; brothers, Ted, Casey, Alex and Joe; and sisters, Katie, Agnes, Myrtle, Louise and Helen. She was also predeceased by her dear friend Ross Rinella in April 1999. Alice was born on February 12, 1920 in the Eastdale area, the youngest of 11 children born to Thomas and Julia Protasiewicz (Protosavage). She was married to Anthony Nowicki on July 10, 1941 in Toronto where they lived until moving to Transcona in 1953. Alice was a wonderful home-maker and strongly bound to her family. Her cottage at White Lake was a great pleasure and source of pride to her and will remain a lasting legacy for her family. Besides raising her own family, Alice was employed for many years as a domestic to many families in Winnipeg. Her employment with these families gave her many dear friends and many happy memories in her retirement years. The family wishes to express its gratitude to all the staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home for the kindness and friendship that have been extended to Mom and us since she came into their care in 1998. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m., at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. A luncheon will follow at Transcona Funeral Chapel. Interment to take place at a later date.
