Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTONIA INGVELDUR JOHNSON (nee Thorsteinson) Peacefully, on Monday, June 5, 2000 at the Arborg & District General Hospital, Antonia Johnson of Riverton, passed away at the age of 67 years. She was predeceased by her husband Gunnlagur Sr. (1988), her parents Steini (1947) and Matie (1992) Thorsteinson, son John Thomas Johnson (1991) and sister Lillian Walker (1997). She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Laugi (Theresa), Devon, Quinton Johnson, Debbie (Daryl) Ashley, Dion, Donovan Calder, Stuart (Michele) Blaine, Megan Johnson; Tyler Johnson, Tyanna (Steve), Zoe Mytz. Brothers and sisters Allan (Grace) of Prince George, Donny (Doris) of Riverton, Kristine of Riverton, Wilma (Cromwell) of Vancouver, Maria (Lou) of Winnipeg, Thorstina of Winnipeg, Norma (Skapti) of Arborg, Alda (Finar) of Lockport and Olafur (Solly) of Riverton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Antonia was born on December 28, 1932 in Riverton, Man. She worked as a homecare worker for five years. She was dedicated to the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church choir, Riverton Ambulance, New Horizons, a volunteer community bingo worker and more. She was a very generous woman always willing to help others. Her children and grandchildren were her source of joy, she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing hockey. She was also active in sports such as curling, baseball and hockey. Antonias pleasures were simple, family, friends, cooking, playing cards and bingo. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Student Pastor Susan Horton officiating. Lunch to follow at the Riverton Rec Complex. Antonia was courageous in her battle with cancer. A special thank you to all those who helped and prayed for her during this difficult time. May she rest in peace, free from pain, wrapped in the safe arms of the Lord. A sincere thanks goes out Dr. Anozie and the hospital staff at the Arborg Hospital. Flowers are declined, if friends so desire, donations in Antonias name can be made to the Riverton-Hnausa Church. Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
