ERIC AYRES On June 6, 2000 Eric Thomas Ayres passed away at the age of 75 years. Eric will be greatly missed by his wife Rita Ayres; his children, Audie (Kim), Cori, Betty (Ted), Janet, Eric, Jimmy and Mia; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother Hank; sisters, Lorna (Barry) and Rita. Eric served in the Canadian Forces as Corporal from 11th January, 1944 to 7th May, 1946 then from 25th January, 1955 to 4th June, 1975. Erics medals include 1939 to 1945 Star, Italy Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939 to 1945, Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. After his retirement from the Forces, Eric worked for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Number 1 Lombard for many years. Eric was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Vital Branch No. 16 where he had many friends. At Erics request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Friends are welcome to join the family for a gathering on Friday, June 9 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Vital Branch No. 16, 554 St. Marys Road. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Erics memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 9Z9.
