ROZALIA (ROSE) KOWALYK Peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2000 after a brief illness with her family at her side, at the Health Sciences Centre, Rozalia Kowalyk passed away at 81 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents at a very early age and all her brothers and sisters. Rozalia will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Michael; daughters Mary Cacchioni (Rolli) from Kelowna, B.C., Anna Gusztak (Leo) from Caronport, SK; son Vlad (Janice) from Winnipeg, MB. Baba will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Angela, Michael, David, Gabriel, Roman, Christina, Andrew, Stephan, Ivan, Catherine, Nicholas and Alexandra. Rozalia was born on February 12, 1919 in Dachniw, W. Ukraine. She met her husband Michael in Germany and they were married May 27, 1945. They came to Canada with their daughter Mary in 1950, settling in Lorette, Man., for one year and then residing in Transcona until her demise. Rozalia was a devoted and loving wife, mother and baba who worked tirelessly for her family. She was an active member of St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church and their Catholic Womens League. Panachyda (Prayers) were sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 9 also at the church, with Msgr. V. Bozyk officiating. Interment to follow in Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alex Pylypowich, John Bogucki, Walter Kulyk, Taras Kulyk, Ron Cramer and David Gnutel. The family expresses their deepest appreciation and sincere thanks to the staff at Concordia Hospital and Health Sciences Centre I.C.U. for their kindness and compassion.
