BERNARD E. PENNER September 23, 1911- June 8, 2000 Ben E. Penner, formerly of Lowe Farm and Winkler died peacefully on Thursday night, and went home to be with his Lord. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Tina, and by his six sons, three daughters, and their families; Doreen (Jim Baker) of Morden, John (Esther) of Prescott Valley, AZ, Harry (Hilda) of Port Coquitlam, BC, Walter (Doreen) of St. Hilaire, MN, Ed of Morden, Ben (Deanna) of Stettler, AB, Margaret (Ken Wiebe) of Winkler, Anna (Brian Wiebe) of Winnipeg, and Lorne (Irene) of Brandon. As well, he is survived by two brothers, Dave (Mary) of Morris, Jake (Mary) two sisters, Tina (late Isaac Klassen) and Anna (Clanton Wiebe), all of Winnipeg, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad was born on September 23, 1911 in the Lowe Farm area. He married Tina Thiessen on June 5, 1932. Dad spent many years working as a crane operator, mechanic, and welder as an employee of Nelson River Construction, Kane Equipment, Bobrowski Mfg. and Flyer Industries. He had a wonderful sense of humour, and enjoyed entertaining his children, grandchildren, friends and anyone who would listen to the endless stories of each place he had worked. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Farm Emmanuel Gospel Church, where Dad spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Interment will follow at the Lowe Farm Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Morris Funeral Home, Saturday (today) from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Red River Valley Lodge, as well as the nurses and staff at the Morris General Hospital.
