Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLA HAZEL SPENCE (nee BALDWIN) Peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2000 in Kelowna, B.C. Hazel Spence, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 102 years. Hazel was born in Emerson, Manitoba on July 14, 1897 living 98 years in Manitoba before moving to Kelowna to live with her eldest daughter. Mother was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1969; her parents; four brothers, Ernie, Harry, Eli and Melville as well as four sisters, Elsie, Myrtle, Lena, and Rita. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Shirley (Bob) Beairsto of Kelowna, B.C., Blake (Irene) Spence of Minneapolis, MN and Sharon Flett of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren Colin (Shelagh), and Jocelyn, Todd (Maryjo), Kathryn (Paul), Gloria (Reggie), Gail (Myron), Jim (Gail), Kevin and eleven great-grandchildren, Bronwyn, Seamus, Henry, Julian, Abigail, Blake, Michelle, Colleen, Jason, Tanya, James and numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel had a great love for her family, and made each and every family member feel special. She had a life long involvement with music, playing the violin, piano and harmonica. Hazel was a founding member of the Deer Lodge United Church, and faithfully attended until she moved to Kelowna in 1996. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Deer Lodge United Church. The family would like to thank Ed and Terry Beselt for their incredible kindness and care for the last six months. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Hope Breast Cancer Information and Resource Centre, 691 Wolseley Avenue, or to a charity of your choice.
