GEORGE LECOQ Died peacefully at Centre Tache, Winnipeg, Man. on Thursday, June 8, 2000. George was born at St. Alphonse, Man. in 1905 and attended Urbain School later taking his High School in Saint-Boniface. He later attended Normal School in Brandon. George taught school for 15 years and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. After the War he was employed by the Winnipeg Post Office for 21 years and retired in 1970. George was a member of the Belgium Club since 1951 and enjoyed playing Bingo. In his retirement he loved his garden. George is survived by his wife Julia (Buydens) of 56 wonderful years; two brothers, Louis (Jeanne) of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and Raymond (Margaret) of Morden, Man.; sister-in-law Bertha Lecoq of Somerset, Man. and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Honorine Lecoq; brothers, Tony (Guillimine) of Holland, Man., Henry of Somerset and Maurice of Holland, Man.; two sisters, Germaine (Edward) Devos of Swan Lake; Cecile Lanouette of Bruxelles, Man. Cremation has taken place. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 300 Donalda Street. Interment will take place in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Georges memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. A special thank you to the staff of Tache Nursing Centre, 5th Floor for their kindness shown.
