CAROLE WARKENTIN (nee KOSAK) Peacefully, Carole, aged 70 years, at St. Boniface Hospital on June 10, 2000 with her daughter Linda; son John and family at her side. Carole is predeceased by her husband John. Her memory is cherished by her daughter Linda and husband Tony Schmid; and son John and wife Marjorie. Mom loved her four granddaughters so much. "The Girls," Taylor and Stephanie Schmid and Amie and Sheena Warkentin always brightened her day. We love you Grandma and will miss you dearly. Carole is survived by four brothers, John (Sophie), Joe (Tina), Mike (Valerie), Ed (Wilma) and sister Stella Holowenko. She is predeceased by her sister Helen and her mother and father. Carole was born in Cooks Creek, Manitoba, February 28, 1930 and was raised on the farm along side the creek. She moved to Winnipeg in her teens to begin her lifelong career as a waitress. She met a tall, dark, lanky kid from Weston, fell in love, married and together they worked tirelessly to make a loving home for their two children. Mom loved getting together with friends and family, laughing and kibitzing, baking and trying out new recipes, but boy, she sure had a passion for travel. When her kids were young she orchestrated memorable summer car trips throughout North America, the West Coast (numerous times), Black Hills, California, Yellowstone and The Lakehead, were a delightful mix of station wagon site seeing, all done on a shoe string budget. When the kids grew up, mom and dad explored Hawaii, Greece, Western Europe, Florida, Mexico, North America (all over), the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Middle East, by land, sea and air, all on a shoe string budget ... of course. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Grey Street United Church, corner of Grey St. and Sandhurst. Viewing one half hour prior to service time at the church. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Research Foundation, Palliative Care, 409 Tache Ave., Room D1003, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2H 2A6. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Ward at the St. Boniface Hospital. You people are the greatest. Thank you. Arrangements in care of KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 582-0973.
