FERN EARLEEN (KRUCHAK) REID (nee THOMPSON) It is with great sorrow that we announce the untimely death of Fern, our beloved wife, mother, step-mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and loyal friend. Fern passed away suddenly but peacefully at home, on June 10, 2000 at the age of 66. Left to cherish her memory are husband Lorne; children and grandchildren, Diane, George, Jacqueline and Deni Duquette, Donna Lee Kruchak, Ian, Kim, Kori and Jon Reid, Brent, Bev, Cheryl and Laura Reid, Ardith, Donald, Steven, Philip and Elyse Cook; brothers, Neil, Ron (Pat) sister Noella Rose; many nephews, nieces, cousins and innumerable friends. Fern was predeceased by Paul, her loving husband of 41 years, and her father and mother. Fern was born February 25, 1934 in St. Boniface and spent her childhood in Dufresne. She married Paul Kruchak in 1954 and they lived in Dugald for many happy years. Together they raised their two daughters, enjoying Sunday drives, camping, playing games and visiting with family. Fern had many interests and enjoyed a varied working career including Eatons, the Dugald Coffee Shop and the Dugald Post Office. Fern had many interests that she pursued with gusto. She belonged to the Dugald UCW, Springfield Ladies Curling Club and spent countless innings keeping score for the Springfield Indians baseball team. Fern had a huge heart overflowing with love and felt blessed when a second wonderful man entered her life. She and Lorne Reid married in 1997, making their home in Oakbank. Fern and Lorne had three short but happy years together and lived their lives to the fullest. She took great pleasure in our Sunday dinners and in following the activities of her family. She always enjoyed watching her children and grandchildrens curling or ball games, attending their concerts, driving them to activities or having coffee with friends and relatives. Her passing will leave a large hole in many hearts. A memorial service for Fern will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Fern had many charities close to her heart.
