FRANCES (DOLLY) CATHERINE LOTTIN (CUMMINGS)
Date of Passing: Jun 10, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES (DOLLY) CATHERINE LOTTIN (nee CUMMINGS) Peacefully, after a brief illness, Frances passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg on June 10, 2000. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Elizabeth Cummings, who immigrated from Scotland in 1909 and by her husband, William, sons, Walter and Robert, brothers, James and Donald, and sisters, Bessie, Isobel and Molly along with their husbands and wives. Frances will be fondly remembered by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Margery and Garth Macdonald; sister-in-law Olive; nieces and nephews and her many friends especially Bernice Owens. Dolly, as she was most widely known, was born on May 31, 1910 on the farm near Neepawa. For many years she was the Neepawa Press Correspondent for the Mentmore District. She also spent many years driving the school van to Brookdale. In her later years, she operated a boarding house in Winnipeg and from there she owned and operated Lipton Lunch on the corner of Lipton and Westminster prior to her retirement in 1975. Dolly was often thought of as a lady before her time. She was highly independent but generously and often quietly assisted others. Her home radiated warmth, and visitors could always count on a cup of tea, interesting conversation and perhaps some tea leaf reading. Many charitable organizations benefited from her handicrafts during her retirement years. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the surgical intensive care unit at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and caring. A celebration of her life will be held in Neepawa at Whites Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may by made in Dollys memory to a charity of choice.
