Only three weeks earlier, on May 18, 2000 her beloved husband of 67 years, Chris Ayre, passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. A joint memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at Arnasons Funeral Home in Lundar. Gladys was born on April 22, 1909 in Winnipeg. Chris was born on August 7, 1908 in England. They were married on June 3, 1933, and moved to Lundar where they farmed in the Swan Creek District until 1970 when, upon retirement, they moved to Winnipeg Beach. They spent thirteen very happy years there, but finally moved back home to Lundar for good in 1983. Together they are survived by two daughters, Elise (Clarence) Johnson of Lundar, and Joyce Ayre of Grandview; and two grandsons, David and Michael Johnson. They were predeceased by one daughter Linda in 1955. Gladys surviving relatives are sister Edna Morley of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Joan Nuttall also of Winnipeg, plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mary-Anne and Joseph Nuttall, four sisters (Maggie, Emily, Alice and Sylvia) and one brother (Fred). Chris is survived by cousins Dolly Langford of Winnipeg and Babs King of England. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Jane Ayre. According to Mom and Dads wishes, cremation has taken place. David and Michael will carry their grandparents remains to a final resting place in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery following the memorial service on Wednesday. A very special thank you to all of the wonderful staff at the Lundar Personal Care Home, and to Dr. Burnet for all of your care during the past several years. Those wishing to do so may make donations in Mom and Dads memory to the Lundar Personal Care Home Guild, Box 60, Lundar, Manitoba, R0C 1Y0.
