MARGARET REA On Sunday, June 11, 2000 at Central Park Lodge, at age 104. Margaret Rea was born on October 17, 1895 in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Known as Maggie to her family, she was the second of 11 children born to Samuel and Agnes (Morrow) Marcus. As a young woman, she worked in a tailors shop in Ballymena before immigrating to Winnipeg in 1921. She married John Rea and they lived in Elmwood until Johns death in 1965. She then moved to Crescentwood to live with daughter Hannah and family. In 1984, she moved to Central Park Lodge (Poseidon). Family was the central focus of her life. Although she never returned Home to Ireland, she kept in touch regularly with relatives through the exchange of letters and photographs. Visits from family members were always special events. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Agnes, Henry, William, David, Samuel, Catherine, Joseph, Thomas and John. She is survived by her sister Jean Black of Ballymena, Northern Ireland; her daughter Hannah Cross; her granddaughter Linda (Greg Fearn) her grandson Fred Cross (Jan Mildren) and her great-granddaughters, Alison and Sandra Fearn, all of Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Bill Millar officiating. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to a charity of choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211

  • Sorry to hear of Margaret's death even at this late stage. I live in Northern Ireland about 20 miles from where Margaret worked in Ballymena. My grandfather - Henry Marcus who died in 1948 was Margaret's brother.
