BERTHA CHEYS (nee Overwater) Peacefully, after a brief illness, Bertha Cheys, on Monday June 12, 2000 at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 91 years. Bertha was born in Amsterdam, Holland on December 31, 1908. She came to Canada in 1913 to reside in Manitoba with her family. She married Julien Cheys in 1930 who predeceased her in 1969. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Rene, and Charles; sisters Gerarda and Alida. She is survived by her sons Robert (Claire) of Winnipeg; Edward (Ollie) of Winnipeg; daughter Leona (Emile) of Dorval, Quebec; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St., with Reverend Fr. James Gray officiating. A private family interment will be held. Special thank you the third floor staff at the Concordia Hospital, nephew Dennis and Doreen Gowler and niece Milly and Case De Wit.
