ROLAND JOHN DEVLIN Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 10, 2000 in Calgary. Rolly was predeceased by wife Elizabeth (Legree) June 7, 1993, brothers Art and Ernie, and sister Phyllis. Dad is remembered by daughter Rolanda Barrett of Winnipeg; sons Paul (Marnie), Fruitvale, BC., Derek (Bev), Calgary; grandchildren Kim and Kevin of Winnipeg, Amy and Michael of Calgary, Renee and Courtenay of Fruitvale, BC., Shawna of Salt Spring Island, BC.; and special niece Linda of Sandy Hook, MB. Dad was born in Napinka, MB. on November 10, 1914, moved to Winnipeg at a young age, attended St. Pauls High School and the University of Manitoba until he joined the R.C.A.F. in 1939. Dad flew overseas with the 297 squadron of the R.A.F. Tactical Branch and served his country until 1945 when Flight Leftenant Devlin returned to Winnipeg to raise his family and resume his career at Air Canada until his retirement after 35 years. Dad was active in all sports including tennis, golf, curling, and his first love baseball. During the last year of his life Rolly moved to Calgary to be closer to his family. We were happy for the time and laughter we were able to share together. His special sense of humour and true love of sports will always be remembered and missed dearly. We love you Dad, and you are in Gods hands now. "To love another person is to see the face of God." Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service Friday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ The King Church at 847 St. Marys Rd. Interment to follow at St. Marys Cemetery at 520 Osborne St.
