ELIZABETH "BETTY" KLASSEN 1924 - 2000 On Sunday, June 18, 2000 at the Bethel Hospital, Winkler, Betty Klassen (nee Friesen), age 76, of Winkler, formerly of Chortitz, went to her eternal rest. She was predeceased by her husband Henry H. Klassen in 1988; son Jerry in infancy; granddaughter Wanda Zacharias; two grandsons, Dwayne Derksen, Darryl Zacharias; and brother John Friesen. She leaves to mourn her passing her five daughters, Betty and Jake Derksen of Altona, Dorothy and Vic Zacharias of the Thames District, Martha and Peter Thiessen of Winkler, Ruth Anderson of Langley, BC, Laura Klassen of Winkler; seven sons, Hank and Sharon of Parksville, BC, Peter of Calgary, AB, John and Esther of Morden, Dave and Irene of Winkler, George of Langley, BC, Ed and Darlene of Morden, Randy and Kathy of Winkler; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary and George Elias of Winkler, Katherine Friesen of Winnipeg; two brothers, Peter and Mary Friesen of Winnipeg, George and Susan Friesen of Winkler and their families. Viewing will be at Wiebe Funeral Home Winkler (121 8th St.), Tuesday, 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., and at the church prior to the service. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church, Schanzenfeld (south of Winkler on Hwy. #32), with Rev. Bill Thiessen and Rev. Peter Wiebe officiating.
