Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEINAR ARNASON OBE Peacefully on June 16, 2000 at Deer Lodge Centre. Einar Arnason, aged 90 years, beloved husband of the late Thora Arnason. Einar was born in Winnipeg. He received his education at the University of Manitoba, graduating with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1937. He served with distinction as an officer in the Canadian Forces during the second world war, working with a division of the British Engineers to develop a more effective portable flame thrower. He was awarded an Officer of the British Empire by King George VI for this service. When he returned to Canada he formed his own business Plaxlab Products Ltd., which made plastic panel signs. Einar was involved with the United Way Social Planning Council, Mount Carmel Clinic, Native and Metis Friendship Centre, the Childrens Aid Society, the Winnipeg and Provincial Police Commissions, and an active member of the Progressive Conservative party being a candidate for St. Matthews in 1973. For his volunteer services he was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. Einar was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. In his early years he was a commercial fisherman on Lake Manitoba with his father. He served in many capacities in this community. Einar was Editor of Logberg Heimskringla, the Icelandic Weekly for 14 years. Einar leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters, Yvonne Leigh Rose (Edward), Jan Elizabeth Krentz (Barry) his grandchildren Kristiana (Brent), Andrew, Darien, Cary (Brad) and Aaron; sister-in-law Fannie Stefansson; nephew Johann Johnson; other relatives and a host of friends. Friends may call at Neil Bardal Inc. on Tuesday, June 20, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service Wednesday, June 21, at 1:00 p.m. in Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance, with Rev. Ingthor Isfeld officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Deer Lodge Centre Foundation. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
