EDITH MABEL LANG (nee KENYON) Peacefully on June 16, 2000 after a lengthy illness, Edith passed away at home with her husband at her side. Edith was born in Belmont, Man. on November 6, 1918 to Thomas and Charlotte Kenyon. She was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of seven. She received her education at Belmont and on October 16, 1937 she married her life long partner and continued to live in Belmont where they raised their family. Prior to moving to Ashern in 1982, they spent 15 years in Brandon, Man. Mom drove a school bus and later did secretarial work at the Belmont Creamery. After moving to Brandon, she continued this line of work with Foster Bros. Accounting. she was a 4-H Leader (sewing) for a number of years and was a member of Rae Rebecca Lodge #58 for 36 years. Mom enjoyed curling and in later years watching it on TV. She took great pride in her quilts which she made for her children and each of her grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, five brothers, one sister, two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and granddaughter Corinne (1965). Edith is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Lyle; one son Keith (Peggy) and two daughters, Betty Ann (Fred) Smith and Marion (Alf) Howse; grandchildren, Kevin (Darlene), Laurie, Kim (Randy), Craig (Nancy), Kerri (Mike) and Kendra and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves sisters-in-law Hazel, Florence, Gertie, Laura, Edna and Verna and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wish to thank Dr. Lee Isaacs and all the Home Care workers who made it possible for Mom to remain at home the past seven years. You will never know how much your TLC meant to us all. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at a later date. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at the Ashern United Church with Student Minister Melanie Kauppila officiating.
