Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryILO EVA HAINES (nee PORTER) April 10, 1940 - June 15, 2000 With much sorrow and grief we regret to announce the sudden passing of our treasured wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ilo. Ilo was one of three girls born to Walter and Eva Porter. She was predeceased by both her parents and her sister, Iris. Surviving her is husband of 33 years, Herb; son David (Jo-Elle) daughter Ilo; grandson Timothy; sister Margaret (Sam) and many other family members and friends (Too many to mention but certainly not forgotten). Ilo began a career she loved in the music industry back in the 1960s where she met her husband Herb. Together they built a wonderful life together raising two beautiful children. Ilo continued in the same industry with Music City for many years, then moving on to The Bay where she ran the music department for some time. Once the music department closed, Ilo continued her work with The Bay for 20 years in various departments. Ilo was a dedicated mother who could always be seen at her daughters ringette and sons hockey games. She was the person heard all across the arena cheering on her childrens teams and ringing her cow bell! Her son, David, will remember a mother who was so devoted, that she took young David to a KISS concert back in 1979 when he was just 11 years old (a concert which he "just had" to go to.) Her daughter, Ilo, will remember touching moments had with her mother during their long talks at night and watching movies together. Some of their most favourite movies shared were musicals such as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Despite being busy with her working career, Ilo took pride in her beautiful flower beds and the eye-catching, magnificent rose bush she maintained and cherished. As well, Ilo was an active volunteer member of the Oxford Heights Community Club for several years. Ilo was a wonderful cook. Her husband Herb will surely miss most her delicious bean soup. All other family members will remember the great controversy had over who would get the last bite of her turkey stuffing which was, by far, the best and as such will never be duplicated again. He lemon pie must to be mentioned. It is hard to face reality and believe you are no longer here with us. We wish you did not have to go so quickly. If only we could have had another week, day or even a few more precious minutes just to say good-bye and tell you well miss you so. Of course, time there could never have been enough of because even if given all the time in the world, we would NEVER have let you go! Flowers are graciously declined. However, the family would ask that you please make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Ilos memory. Funeral service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21 at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. "Forever in our Hearts and Always on our Minds, WE LOVE YOU"
