ANTHONY TONY KOWALSKI Peacefully, with his family at his side and after a brief but courageous battle with illness, Anthony Kowalski passed away in the early morning of Saturday, June 17, 2000 at Concordia Hospital. Tony will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, Olga; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Ellen, Douglas and Kerry and Stewart and Harriet; his five grandchildren, Shelley, Kyla, Tanya, Jonathan and Daniel; brothers and sisters, Bill and Irvin, Alex, Jerry and Levina, Nellie and Joe, Pauline, Ann and John, Elsie and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Harry and Annie; his brothers, Frank and Walter and his sisters, Mary and Jean. He will be fondly remembered by all his friends, including the Knights of Columbus, members of Holy Eucharist Parish, and the coffee gang. Tony was born in Elma, Man. on February 17, 1922. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Oak Bluff where he attended school and worked on the family farm. He married his wife Olga in 1950 and started to work for the C.N.R. He also worked at Kik-Cola and spent 17 years working for John Deere and retired from the River East School Division in 1986. Always active, Tony spent his retirement travelling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and volunteering with the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed working in his garage and maintaining the yard and garden with his wife, good Ukrainian food, hunting and fishing, and of course, lengthy political discussions. His family and his grandchildren were very important to him. He was very proud of being a chartered member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Eucharist Council #11330. He was a man to be counted on and he was always ready and willing to volunteer and help those in need. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. A. S. Abdulrehman and Dr. A. W. Alvi and staff of Ward 3 East at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. The family would also like to express thanks to all his friends for their thoughts and prayers. Prayers will be said on Tuesday evening (tonight), June 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 21 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe and Watt Street with Rt. Rev. Mitrat Gregory Oucharyk officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brother Knights of the Holy Eucharist Council #11330 with a Honour Guard from the Fourth Degree Assembly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthonys memory to the charity of your choice. The Lord reached down and took him home to his eternal rest. Our dearly beloved husband, father Gedo and brother. We thank him for all the cherished memories. Heaven will be a brighter place with your smile and laughter. You will be missed but not forgotten Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
