Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE LEYLAND PINCOCK George Leland Pincock, 84, Halifax, June 16, 2000. Born in Winnipeg, the son of the late Clayton and Olive (Stoddard) Pincock. George is survived by his wife, Sadie; sons, Douglas (Halifax), James (Halifax) and Frederick (Brampton) brother Graham (Winnipeg) sisters, Margaret Gallimore (Brockville) and Olive Shaw (Halifax) nine Pincock grandchildren, Barry, James, David, Lisa, Christopher, Mark, Heather, Katherine and Christine; and 11 great-grandchildren. He graduated with B.Sc. (Gold Medal) and M.Sc. degrees in physics from the University of Manitoba, followed by a second M.Sc. from the School of Meteorology at the University of Toronto. He had met his future wife, Sadie Boyle as her instructor in a physics laboratory at Wellesley College, Winnipeg. Their first posting in the Meteorology Service (now called Environment Canada) was to Victoria, followed by Vancouver, Ottawa, Metz (France), Ottawa again, Winnipeg, and finally Toronto. In 1973, they bought a summer home on the Moira River outside Tweed, Ontario. After his retirement in 1978, they moved there permanently and became active members of the local community. In 1995, they moved to Halifax to be near family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews United Church, Halifax on Friday morning, June 23.
