After the birth of her first child, she found a job at Olympic Sportswear as machine operator and remained there for 16 years. Mabel began training as a telephone operator for M.T.S. in 1974. She continued at M.T.S. until her retirement in 1991. Many lasting friendships were created at both Olympic and M.T.S. These friends and many acquaintances were touched by Mabels caring and encouraging manner. She was always helping in some way and truly used her God-given talents to serve others. Mabels life centred around her family and her work at the Chinese United Church. She was a talented cook and baker, and happiest when she was preparing a feast for her family and enjoying their company. Mabel participated in all aspects of Church and Presbytery life and in recent years was privileged to be a member of a number of national United Church committees. She was very grateful for the opportunity to travel, to meet new people, and especially, to learn from others. Sincere thanks to Dr. Krepart, Dr. Richtenberg and Dr. Marr, and to the caring and compassionate staff at the Womens Centre and the Palliative Care unit at Riverview Health Centre.
