Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA SICARD (DAREL) Peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2000 at the St. Claude Pavilion, Maria Sicard (nee Darel) passed away in her 90th year. She was born in St. Claude on May 21, 1910. She was the second daughter of Victor and Isabelle Darel. She had three sisters, Yvonne, Denise who passed away in 1986, and Isabelle; four brothers, Victor who passed away in 1974, Marcel in 1964, an infant brother Paul in 1922, and Paul. In 1931, she married Lucien Sicard and became mother to three stepchildren, Therese who passed away in 1987, Louis in 1989 and Albert in 1969 and raised two daughters, Marie Ange born in 1933 and Helene born in 1940. She lost an infant daughter, Helen, in 1937. Her husband Lucien passed away in 1962. She always took pride in her daughters, grandchildren, Anita Warsaba, Henri Dubois, Joe and Shelley Dubois, Diane and Lance OBrien, Lucille Sitar, Rene and Marie Massinon, Yvonne and Norman Fleury, Doris and Francois Talbot, Roland Massinon, Raymond and Rachel Massinon, Maurice and Aline Massinon, Denis Massinon, Gerald Massinon and Donald and Denise Massinon and 28 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was always a hard worker, having worked in numerous places. Amongst these were working at Philippots, at Tranqs, at Binnes and at Olivieros. She also worked at the Rectory as housekeeper for LAbbe Gagne. She enjoyed her retirement years travelling with Fehr Way tours to destinations such as Alaska, Florida, California and Nashville. She was a passionately devoted Montreal Canadiens fan rarely to be seen without a Montreal Canadien touque or hat and was always matching wits with various game show contestants. She also enjoyed bingo and card games. She was known in the community for her record keeping skills. She suffered greatly in the early passing of her two daughters, Marie Ange in 1994 and Helen in 1996, along with her two sons-in-law, Victor in 1993 and Harry in 1990. She had the support and love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who visited her often. She received excellent care from the staff at the Pavilion and enjoyed her time there. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at the St. Claude Church at 10:30 a.m. with LAbbe Bouchard officiating. Cremation has taken place as per her request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Claude Pavilion. Adams Funeral Home of Notre Dame in care of arrangements.
