JOSE AUGUSTO ALVES September 9, 1941 - June 19, 2000 It is with great sadness that we the family announce the sudden death of our beloved husband, father and grandpa at age 58. He will be greatly missed by his devoted and loving wife, Amelia Fernandes Alves; his daughters, Fernanda (Aurelio), Irene (Acacio), Nicole (Adelino). He will also be deeply missed by his pride and joys, his grandchildren, Melanie, Nicholas, Matthew, William and newest granddaughter Isabella whom he unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet. He will be sadly missed by mother Isaura; his brothers, Belarmino, Orlando, Serafin and sister Maria de Lourdes, who all reside in France, as well our relatives in Portugal and Canada. In his many years of working across Canada in the construction field, he made many long lasting friendships. He was liked by all his co-workers and was an exceptional worker. Our loss will also be felt by many of his friends and co-workers. He spent long periods of time working away from home but deep in our hearts we always knew hed return to us because his family meant so much to him. Our father was born in Lamas de Mouro, Melgaco, Minho, Portugal. He was an adventurer and a fighter and never afraid of a new challenge. When he was 16 years old he immigrated to France to meet up with his family. He worked alongside them until he married in 1964. He made a life for himself and our mother and had three daughters. In 1976 we all immigrated to Canada looking for an adventure and perhaps a better life. This is where his career began. Our father was a great family man, his family meant the world to him. His greatest joys were the family dinners, going hunting and fishing with his sons-in-law, his passion for his cars and travelling to France and Portugal with our mom to visit with the rest of the family. Our father had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He was concerned not only with our well being but also with that of others. This great loss will be deeply felt by our mother who always stood by his side through the good and the bad. Our mother was always his strength throughout their lives. Dad, if only we could turn back time just to see you one more time, we would love to see the smile in your eyes and feel the love you had for all of us. Life will never be the same without you. We love you and may God bless you. Rest in Peace Grandpa, we love you, we will never forget you. We will miss you so much, you will always be in our hearts. Melanie, Nicholas, Matthew, William and Isabella Thank you to all our friends and family for all their love and support. Prayers will be said in the Chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy. on Friday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, June 24 at 9:00 a.m. with Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Committal will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. It breaks our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God took you home. A heart of gold stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Though your smile is gone forever And your hands we cannot touch, We have so many memories Of the one we love so much. Funeral arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 220 HESPELER AVENUE 668-3151
