JOSEPHINE FITZSIMMONS (nee KUSTRA) Josephine Fitzsimmons passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Portage la Prairie at the age of 88 years. Born in Dauphin, MB, she had resided in Portage since 1928. Josie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary; four brothers, John, Jack, Frank and Earl; two sisters, Helen Dearle and Frances Korney. In 1976 she was predeceased by her husband Fred Fitzsimmons. Josie is survived by three daughters, Donna Tomalin (Reg), Joan Solomon (Jack), and Wendy Christianson, all of Portage. She is also survived by grandchildren, Bev Owens, Sally Solomon, Amber Christianson, Daniel Christianson; great-grandchildren, Chris Owens, and Jessica Christianson. She is also survived by two sisters, Emily Barabash of Grandview and Barbara Jenkins of Winnipeg, together with many nieces and nephews. Josies life was committed to her family and her home. In her active years, she took pleasure in sewing, gardening and crafts. She enjoyed the many family pets throughout her years. Josie had been a resident at the Lions Prairie Manor for the past two and one half years. A private family graveside service for interment of the cremated remains will be held at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc., 24 - 9th St., S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4. The Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie, is in care of the arrangements. Thanks for the years you gave us, for the good times that we shared. We only pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared.
