EVHENIA (JENNIE) KURJEWICZ (nee BAKALECZ) It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Jennie Kurjewicz, at the age of 87 on June 19, 2000 at Concordia Hospital. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jennie never put anything, including her own needs, before the needs and concerns of her family, even when she faced her own hardships and personal challenges. Her strength and independence as a human being certainly did not go unnoticed. Predeceased by her husband Pavlo (Paul) in 1975, Jennie leaves memories that will be cherished forever by her two sons, Peter (Roxolana) and Myroslaw (Julia) grandchildren, Roman, Mark (Diana), Zenon, Laryssa, Adam and Theresa; great-grandchild Nicholas, as well as extended family in Ukraine. Jennie was born on August 3, 1912 in celo Ludvikivka, Povit Ternopil in western Ukraine. As a young woman she came to Canada, where she married Pavlo (Paul). In her early years in Canada, she worked as a seamstress, the later as a homemaker, raising two sons. Later in life, Jennie channeled much of her energies into running Moms Snack Bar at Brothers Pharmacy on Selkirk Avenue. A faithful servant of God, she was long standing member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, and a pioneer of the Womens League, among other organizations in the parish and community. Many thanks are extended to Dr. P. Harris and Dr. T. Babick, as well as the other members of the healthcare team that looked after Jennie. Your care and compassion was and is most appreciated. Special thanks also to Mr. Orest Hrynevich, a long time friend and neighbour, for his care and concern. In keeping with her wishes and the way she conducted her life, a private family funeral service took place at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral on June 22 with Rev. Kouts officiating. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 We love you Baba - we find comfort knowing that we will see each other again. Now you are at peace - you are with our Lord and his Son. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
