Alexander (Alex) Radchenka, Sr. born May 3, 1928, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre. Alexander is survived by his children, Alex (Jr.), Tamara (Rob), Klaudia (Kirk) and Mike (Julie) grandchildren, Sean and Stacey; brother Michael (Mary), his wife Eugenia; good friend Katherine; many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. Alexander was predeceased by his brother Nicholas. Alexander was born in Belarus. He spent most of his working career at Canadian Propane (ICG) before retiring. He found great joy in playing his accordion and entertaining others. Prayers will be said on Sunday evening, June 25 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue. Funeral service and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 643 Manitoba Ave., with Fr. Anatoly Melnyk officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Victor Schmatkow, Bill Kowalenko, Victor Jasen, Ed Radchenka, Randy Schlamb and Peter Raczenko. Special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors of SICU at the Health Sciences Centre for their caring. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of choice.
