JAMES COWLARD TULLY

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES COWLARD TULLY On Sunday, June 25, 2000 at the Portage District General Hospital, James Tully of Poplar Point, Man., beloved husband of Alma Tully, passed away at the age of 78 years. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, on Thursday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Baie St. Paul Parish Cemetery. Jim was born on December 14, 1921, son of Walter and Ellen Tully at Marquette, Man. where he was raised and received his education. In 1940 he enlisted with the Rocky Light Infantry and served overseas until the end of the War in 1945. After his discharge he met and married Alma Gobell. The newlyweds farmed in the Baie St. Paul District until 1960. From 1960 to 1970 Jim and his family moved to several rural communities while employed with Federated Co-op. He became self-employed while living at Belmont as the owner/operator of the Belmont Transfer until his retirement in 1981. They continued to live in Belmont until 1994 at which time they moved to Poplar Point to reside. During his retirement Jim enjoyed looking after his yard and woodworking. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Mary, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Alma of Poplar Point; sons, Randy (Joyce) of Shoal Lake and Lyle (Vera) of Poplar Point; six grandchildren, Brad, Robyn, Erin, Laura, Sara, Russell. Also surviving are three brothers, Reg, Les, Ken; sister Dorothy and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, HSFM, Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Cres., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1A7. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
