CHRISTIANN (CHRISSIE) COOK (nee FINLAYSON) Our Mother quietly slipped away to be with the Lord, Monday morn, June 26, 2000. Mom was born March 16, 1912 in Winnipeg, Man. As a small girl she moved to the New Scotland area with her family where she spent her growing up years. She worked in Winnipeg and Faulkner where she met our Dad, Herman E. Cook. They were married in Winnipeg, September, 1933. All her married years were spent on the farm at Steep Rock, Man. where seven children were born to them: Ellen (Alfie) Cook, Ashern; Donald (Marilyn) Cook, Steep Rock; Lyla (Wilbert) Helm, Kinistino; David (Donna) Cook, Kinistino; Heather (Lloyd) Cook, Kinistino; Sharon (Alfred) Konzelman, Ashern; Marjorie Cook, Kinistino. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Margery Finlayson and Gladys Foster. Sister-in-laws, Marge Stabner, Agnes Finlayson, Rose Stabner and Laura Gall. Brothers-in-law, Cliff (Rosella), Fred (Irene), Arnold and Wesley (Martha) Cook. As well as many other relatives. Our Moms only desire in life was to serve the Lord and raise her children to love the Lord. She spent her whole married life looking after our Dad and her family, always busy baking, cleaning or making meals for an extra guest. We usually came home to the smell of fresh bread baking and Mom was always there. Upon the death of our Dad in 1975, she moved to Kinistino where she continued to Mother each of us and her grandchildren til the time of her passing. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and daily lifted her children to the Lord in prayer. Because of our Mothers love and faith in God she left us an example that well always cherish. Funeral services will be held from the Weldon Christian Tabernacle, Thursday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. and from the Steep Rock Fellowship in Manitoba, Friday, June 30 at 2:00 p.m.. Mom will then be laid to rest beside Dad in the Faulkner Cemetery.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I have eaten a many of meal at Chrissie's table as a kid. Once during harvest she and daughter were picking peas in the garden. Chris her grandson and I run a mile up the road and slip in the house and found a large bowl of shelled peas. Well we hid them in a closet. We ran back to Donny and Marilyn's. Out of breath and excited we slipped back in the house unnoticed. About 15 minutes later the party line phone rang. We heard Maryland say no the boys are here in the basement. The pea pickers were missing their peas. Never the less we could hardly contain ourselves. Those are precious memories. But there was something more precious than that stands out in my memories. She was a Godly Christian. When brother William Branham crossed their path their life in Christ prospered. I remember they turned their home to hold church services and they would hear him preach on tapes. I know this was not popular in the community. The Herm Cook's family had changed and none could deny their Christian testimony in their lives.I am writing this December 24, 2014. 48 hours ago her son Donald Cook passed away. There is not a greater gift than eternal life and that comes by the Grace of God through the blood shed by Jesus Christ. Malachi 4:5-6 prophesied just before the second coming of Christ that God would send a prophet like John the Baptist. Through that vindicated prophet we would be turned back to the Word as it was written in the Bible.( see www.themessage.com) It has been over 40 years ago and I have watched the offspring of Herm and Chrissie Cook. The ones that have been listening to the same Word of God brought through this mighty prophet are living examples before our eyes. It is said ye shall be living epistles read of all men. Today ask yourself how will God judge you? He will not judge by our church or denomination but by His Word. God bless the Cook families and the Steep Rock Tape Fellowship. David Erickson Son of Alfred and Jeannien Erickson Jeffersonville Indiana My grandpa Jamar and my Dad, Alfred Erickson both served the Lord as ministers of the Gospel. Jamar as a circuit rider preacher from 1927 to 1981. The Cooks and Ericksons are celebrating 87 years of friendship. - Posted by: David R. Erickson grandson of Rev.
