BARBARA EILEEN LaROCQUE (nee WOOD) Passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 24th, 2000 in the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, Manitoba at the age of 67 years. She was predeceased by: her parents Eileen and Charles; brother Roddy; sister-in-law, Mary Wood and by her good friend Annie Curtaz. Barbara is survived by her children: Leslie; Terry (Darlene), Craig, Corye, Melissa; Rick (Tracy), Meagan, Stephanie; Jamie, (Jeannette), Angie, Sarah, Kayla; Kathy, (Roger), Randy, Jennifer; her brother Colin Wood of Missouri; sister Janie (Jim) Jickling of Richer, MB; and her former spouse Lucien Larocque. Barbara was born January 7th, 1933 in the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. She lived in Richer throughout both her childhood and adult life. During this time she learned to love nature, appreciating the quiet solitude country life brings. Mom raised a family of five, her grandchildren were very important in her life, and she enjoyed the company of family and friends. Barb loved and appreciated many things, including: flowers; shopping; Angels; birds and horses. She had a very special place in her heart for her cats, Barb loved the quiet affection that a cat cuddle could bring. One of the vivid memories that many family members recall is her shopping trips with her late friend Annie Curtaz. The two of them shopping together were similar to Wilma and Betty from the Flintstones - "CHARGE-IT"! Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Green Acres Lane. Cremation will follow.
