Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH ANDRAYKO Peacefully, after a long and courageous battle on Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre, Joseph Andrayko, aged 74 years of Selkirk, formerly of East Selkirk. Joseph was born on October 23, 1923 and grew up on the family farm in East Selkirk. He served his country in the Second World War and saw active duty in France, Germany, Belgium, and Holland, and while stationed overseas in England, he met his wife Eileen. Upon returning home after the war, he farmed in East Selkirk and worked at Canada Packers, retiring from the company in 1986 after 34 years. Joseph also continued to service the community as a founding member and captain of the East Selkirk Fire Department, retiring after 27 years of service. He was predeceased by his grandson Brian in July, 1988, and leaves to mourn Eileen, his wife of 53 years; his son Garry; daughter Sherley; grandchildren, Robert, Craig, Tami, Keri and Janet; 11 great-grandchildren; and many friends. He was greatly loved by his family and friends, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all. In keeping with Josephs wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Josephs name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the CancerCare Foundation.
