We grew up to know our mother as a kind person. Other people that knew her also knew her as a kind and caring person. As a young woman growing up with her siblings, they enjoyed making maple sugar every spring. Mom and her siblings had different daily chores and tasks to do, working very hard. She helped support her own family by picking and selling natural roots and herbs, wildberries, etc. When she moved to Winnipeg with her husband and children in the 60s she started housecleaning seven days a week to help support her family. She also worked at Winnipeg Cold Storage and Dunn-rite Foods. Mom followed the traditional spiritual way of life, being a pipe carrier, participating in various ceremonies, sweat lodges, sundances and fasting. Mom also respected the Christian way of life. In her leisure time she loved to go to bingo, she also enjoyed old time music and dancing, visiting friends and loved ones. She spent a lot of time with her sister Clara. Her favourite saying was OK lets go "eh".
