MARGARET KILFOYLE (nee PRICE) Peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2000, Margaret passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by Mel, her husband of 58 years; her three children, Maureen (Gord Knox), Murray (Jacqueline) and Marilyn (Fred Lindenschmidt) as well as her sister Joyce Leggat. She will be greatly missed by all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Valerie (Richard) - Yeshi, Tavia, Tobiah; Denise - Nathan; Michael (Kathy) - Ashley, Jordan; Kimberley - Brooklyn; Susan; Kourtenay. Margaret was born in Winnipeg on November 29, 1917 to George and Lillian Price. She lived her childhood and early adulthood in Winnipeg, embarking on a career in bookkeeping and office management. In those early years she was an active, founding member of the Kildonan Canoe Club where she enjoyed the paddling activities and made many long standing friends. It was there she met Mel and they were married on September 17, 1941. The early years of their marriage were spent at Trenton, Ontario where Mel was stationed with the Air Force. Following his discharge, they and their daughter, Maureen relocated to Flin Flon, MB. where they were very active in the community, including the Kinsmen and Kinettes . It was there that their son, Murray was born. In 1953 they returned to Winnipeg, residing in Fort Rouge initially, then Windsor Park where their daughter Marilyn was born. In 1973 they relocated to the Oakbank area and became involved in equestrian activities with Marilyn. They retired back to Winnipeg in 1985. During all those years Margaret continued to work in her field, retiring at age 68 as office manager after 20 years with the major law firm Walsh Micay and Co. Throughout Margarets life she took great pleasure in meeting new individuals, hearing their stories and developing relationships with them. After retirement, she focused much of her time and energy documenting the family genealogical history. This led to even broader contacts and relationships throughout the world, including a trip to Australia and New Zealand in 1999 to spend time with family there. Throughout her life she quietly led her family, friends and colleagues by example. She stood as an exceptional role model for everyone. Of particular note, were the strong, beneficial relationships she had with her grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family gathering on Wednesday, July 5 from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. The family will receive friends and family for a come and go visitation from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. also at 1858 Portage Ave., to be followed by an open house at her sons residence. During the visitation we invite you to share with the family a unique picture, memento, or writing about a special occasion that will be placed in the "Memories of Life Book" for a family keepsake. The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff on Ward 5E and the many visitors during her hospitalization. If friends so desire, a donation in Margarets memory may be made to the Palliative Care program at the St. Boniface Hospital. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1858 Portage Avenue 949-4872
