Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ALEXANDER BRUCE EWEN William Alexander Bruce Ewen of Regina - June 30, 2000, age 82; husband of Olive Lukey, father of Ruby Ewen (Luskville, Quebec), Thoma Ewen (Poltimore, Quebec), Judith (Jay) Anderson (Winnipeg, Manitoba), James Ewen (Pat Daniels) (Winnipeg), Harry (Kim) Ewen (Drumheller, Alberta), and grandfather of Gabriel Ewen-Phillips (Poltimore) and Stuart Alexander Ewen (Drumheller). Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Isabella (nee Taylor) and Tom McEwen, sisters Jean Kovich and Isobel Argyros and brother James Taylor Ewen. Bruce is also survived by brothers, Norman (Dee Morgan) and Sean (Kriss Boggild) McEwen and their families, and by Goldie Ewen (nee Levy). Bruce fought with the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion of the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War, and in the Signal Corps of the Canadian Army, in Italy and in Holland in the Second World War. He has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Education from the University of British Columbia. Bruce will be remembered for his teaching in Mathematics and Science by students from schools in Greater Vancouver and Prince Rupert in British Columbia, and from Eyebrow and Melville in Saskatchewan. His memory will be cherished by everyone who knew him, most especially by his family, for his teaching of life and love and his high ideals, which were untarnished by living. His children have established, in his name, a scholarship for excellence in mathematics at Carson Graham School in North Vancouver.
