Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS ANTHONY LECKAY Tragically, after a courageous fight, Nicholas (Nick) Anthony Leckay passed away peacefully June 30, 2000, with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Charlene; mother Jean; brothers, Wilfred, Ray (Stella) and Terry; mother-in-law Margaret Geske; brother-in-law Douglas Geske; sister-in-law Charisse (Barry) Campbell; nephews, Chris, Steven and Ian; nieces, Leissa and Taryn; and also aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Fred in 1978 and his father-in-law Rudy in 1999. Nick was born November 19, 1948 in Ethelbert, MB. He grew up in Pine River, MB and moved to Winnipeg in 1970, where he began his career. He was employed with Canada Packers for 17 years, and then recently was employed with the City of Winnipeg, Forestry Department for the past 12 years. Nick was very mechanically inclined. His hobbies were tinkering on cars, trucks, skidoos, and three-wheelers. Nick loved country music, taking pictures, travelling, skidooing, hunting and animals (cats, geese and deer). He enjoyed meeting people, and always kept busy, taking pride in his job and all he did at home. He would always lend a helping hand if he could. The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 7 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (across from the Mint), with viewing one half hour prior to the service. Interment Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Mink and staff at St. Boniface General Hospital ICU for their efforts. Donations in Nicks memory may be made to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Boniface General Hospital Intensive Care Unit or to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation.
