Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN FRANCIS DAFOE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on Friday, June 30, 2000 of Joan Francis Dafoe (nee Beenham) born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 8, 1935. Surrounded by family, she passed very peacefully in Eagle Ridge Hospital, Port Moody, B.C. after a courageous battle with cancer. She was very proud of having attended Principal Sparling and Daniel McIntyre schools in Winnipeg. Joan is a Past Honoured Queen of Jobs Daughters and a member of the RCMP Veterans Womens Auxiliary. She was an enthusiastic participant in Seniors Volleyball. While employed at the old RCMP Barracks on Portage Avenue, she met and married her loving husband of 42 years, John (Jack) W. Dafoe. During residence in the Lakehead (Fort William) Ontario, all three of her children were born, Gordon (Leslie) who now reside in Squamish, B.C., Bradley in Burnaby and Sandra in Port Moody. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and James Woods of Winnipeg. She has many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends who will miss her very much. She will be fondly remembered for her cheerful personality, engaging conversation and willingness to help others. As a family, we would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Beth Payne and all Doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Eagle Ridge Hospital. By request, no service is planned. Cremation arrangements have been made and the ashes will be scattered at her favourite spot. Those wishing to celebrate Joans memory may do so by making donations to the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care, 475 Guildford Way, Port Moody, B.C., V3H 3W9 or the Canadian Cancer Society.
