MICHAEL WALTER CAPEK On Monday, July 3, 2000 after a brief illness, Michael (Mike) Walter Capek, beloved son and brother, passed away at the age of 45. Predeceased by his father Andrew, Mike leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his mother Anita; brothers, Jim and sister-in-law Donna Capek; nephews, Shane and Kevin; niece Alicia; Paul, Robert and sister-in-law Janet Capek; nephew Ryan; niece Lauren; and his sister Mary Anne. Born November 16, 1954 in Winnipeg, MB, Mike received all of his schooling in Transcona. He had joined the army cadets as a member of the band. After a short stay in the army, he went to work in the Queen Charlotte Islands, BC for seven years in the mining industry. This is where he had the best times of his life, scuba diving, off-shore fishing and mountain climbing. He returned to Winnipeg when the mine closed in 1983. Since his return he went back to driving for various towing companies. He was an avid race car fan and could be found in front of the T.V. every Sunday with his friend John. Michael was a very hard worker and would always be there to lend a helping hand. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. We will always remember his long hair and bushy bearded look he had for over 25 years. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery.
