GEORGE With his family by his side, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Dennis John St. George peacefully passed away on July 4, 2000 at the Concordia Hospital. Loving memories are left with his wife of 52 years, Shirley; children, Don (Heather), Jackie (Bill) and Deny (Susan) grandchildren, Stacey, Kerry, Jillian and Brenden; sisters, Kathleen and Doris (Lawrence) and brother Bryan (Dean). He is also survived by many close relatives. Dennis was born on July 31, 1924 to Ivan and Sara St. George at the homestead farm in Richland, Man. His early years were spent attending Beatrice School and working on the family farm. Dennis joined the CNR, where he worked at the Fort Garry Hotel and later moved to the Stores Department in Transcona, from which he retired in 1986 after 37 years of service. In 1948, he married Shirley Hadaller and shortly afterward they returned to the family farm. In 1967, the family was transferred to Calgary, then returned to Winnipeg in 1970. Dennis and Shirley remained in Windsor Park until they moved to Oakbank in 1999. Dennis achieved many accomplishments in his life, including: Past Master of the King Edward Masonic Lodge #93, private pilots licence at age 58 and special honours for life time blood donations. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, travelling and "tinkering" on the farm. The family wishes to thank the Doctors, nurses and support staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion given to Dennis and family. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations made in Dennis memory, may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street with Rev. Jack Ballantine Dickson officiating. A private interment will follow at a later date. He will be sadly missed, but will be in our hearts and memories forever. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
