Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECILE ALARIE (nee PICARD) Peacefully at the Pine Falls Health Complex, Mrs. Cecile Alarie passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2000. Cecile was born near St. Eustache, MB on March 27, 1922. She received her education at the St. Eustache convent. While growing up, she enjoyed farm life and working alongside her brothers. In 1943, she married Aurelius who predeceased her in 1992. With her passing she leaves to mourn her children, Gilbert (Barbara) Alarie, Gilberte Harrison, Andre Alarie, Noelline (Andy) Berthelette, Claire (Norman) Vincent, Simone (Allan) Donnelly, Jeanne (Robert) Poitras, Michelle Alarie (Richard LHeureux) 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her brother Alfred (Diane) Picard; and sisters, Henriette (Omer) Lamoureux; Jeannette (George) Bergeron, Denise (Rene) Mallot. Cecile was predeceased by her infant son Henri, her parents, sister Valerie (Andre) Carrignan, and her brother Armand (Pauline) Picard. After moving to Powerview in 1951, they built a house and raised their children. One of Ceciles great joys was her green house and garden. She was well known for her green thumb, winning many horticultural awards. Another important part of her life was her faith in God and the Catholic Church. Her religion was a great strength during her life and comfort during her illness. Many hours of her life was given in service to the church. Cecile enjoyed many hours of companionship and spiritual comfort with her prayer group. She truly lived her faith and was an inspiration to all. One highlight of her life that Cecile immensely enjoyed was her trip to the Holy Land with Simone and Allan. She spent many hours reminiscing especially about her audience with the Pope in Rome. Her greatest joy was her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cecile touched all who knew her and her warmth and sincerity will be missed by all. Viewing and prayers will be held on Monday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m., with funeral liturgy to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, MB, with Rev. Fr. F. Paradis, the celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Georges cemetery. Honorary pallbearer will be Jean Harrison and active pallbearers will be Kevin Alarie, Brent Alarie, Tim Alarie, Phillippe Alarie, Jamie Berthelette, Dan Berthelette, Michel Vincent and Justin Vincent. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), or to a charity of ones choice.
