Freda is survived by her devoted husband Fred, and beloved sister Enid (John) Gostelow of Retford, England. Her cherished son Clive, and younger sister Iris, predeceased her. Freda will always be loved and remembered by her children, Christopher and E.M. (Yeti) Agnew, Ian and Colleen, and Tim and Angela. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Sean, Patrick (Cynthia), Rick (Erica), Marc, Richard, Wendy, Pamela, and Jennifer. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Chandler, Cameron, and Connor; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and South Africa. Freda was born April 30, 1920 in Brighton, England to Fred and Elsie (Mair) Hutchings. She was the eldest of three sisters and extremely proud of her English/Scottish heritage. She obtained her SRN degree in Nursing and served throughout the Second World War as a Registered Nurse in the Military Ward of Worthing General Hospital, for which she received the Defence of Britain Medal. During the war she met her husband, a Captain of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, and they were married September 18, 1943. Freda settled in Winnipeg in 1946, the first warbride to arrive here with a warbaby and began a life of devotion to her family. She also resided in Burlington, Montreal, and Toronto, returning to Winnipeg in 1999. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Riverview Health Centre. The family thanks the staff of 3 East at the Riverview Health Centre for the wonderful comfort and care provided to Freda in her last days. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
