KARL STASIUK It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Karl Stasiuk, aged 82 years, of Gimli, on July 5, 2000, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love and support of his family. He was predeceased by his wife Olga whom he loved dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Larry (Joan) and Jerry; daughter Sherry (John) grandchildren, Jeff (Petrina), Denise (Cameron), Tammy (Kent), Dawn (Kenny) eight great-grandchildren; and one sister Olga Recunyk of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by four brothers, Joe, Walter, Mike and Paul; three sisters, Annie Luprypa, Helen Watson and Rose Lupky. Karl, better known as tatoo, was born in Progress, MB on July 30, 1917, where he met his wife Olga. Shortly after their marriage on November 4, 1944, they moved to Gimli. In 1948 he and Walter Luprypa started a water well-drilling business. After a few years Karl took over the business and ran it with his sons till the present date. Karl always eagerly awaited the start of hunting season, making plans and talking about past hunting and fishing trips with friends and family which was a great passion of his. He served as a volunteer for the Gimli Fire Department between 1969 and 1984, and was a lifelong member of the Gimli Wildlife Association. He will be sadly missed by his many, many friends and family. Prayers will be held on Sunday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Cremation to follow. Active pallbearers will be Jack Arden, Andy Noga, Dennis Firman, Jack Korolyk, Gerald Korolyk and Alvin Luprypa. His honorary pallbearers will be friends, Elert Isfjord, Art Firman and Walter Luprypa. Special thanks to Dr. Chapnick and staff of the Gimli Hospital and to Dr. Houston and Carla Franklin of CancerCare. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Karls memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Tatoo, your family and many, many friends will miss you greatly, you enriched our lives with your presence, your memories and endless love will be with us forever.
