NICHOLAS (NICK) RICHARD CHERCOE 1913 - 2000 Peacefully, on July 5, 2000 following a lengthy illness, at the age of 87 years, Nick passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mildred and her daughters, Linda and Peggy; first wife Sophia Chercoe (John Girling) son Ron and grandchildren, Robert, Howard and Colleen; daughter Pat Dawson and grandchildren, Kevin and Cameron; son Terry (Linda) and grandchildren, Jason, Crystal and Jordan; daughter Donna Hlady (Frank) and grandchildren, Nicole and Richard; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother Mitch Chiles. Nicholas was predeceased by his parents Anastasia and Hnat; sister Anne Bodnar; brother John; and adolescent sister Mary; son-in-law Rene "Joe" Dawson and daughter-in-law Helen Chercoe. Nick farmed for many years in Tyndall and also worked at the Esso Oil Refinery and the Moss Plant in Mosspur. He moved to Selkirk in 1970 and worked at the Selkirk Mental Hospital until lung cancer forced him to retire at age 64. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 10 at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk at 7:30 p.m. with Fr. Walter Klimchuk officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
