ELAINE ANN YURETT (nee WILLIAMS) Elaine Ann (nee Williams) Yurett, born December 26, 1942, was called from family and friends on July 7, 2000 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon. Elaine was raised at the Bay Road, St. Stephen, NB. She attended the Bay Road Rural School and graduated from St. Stephen High School with recognition in the secretarial field. She was employed with Garcelon Stamp Co. in St. Stephen before accompanying her husband in various appointments in the military, including two tours in Germany: 1963 in Soest; and 1972 in Lahr. In 1982, she accepted a full time church position with her husband in the Salvation Army, Brandon, in the field of church growth. In 1984, she was warranted as an Auxiliary Captain in the Salvation Army and appointed with her husband to Portage La Prairie, followed by appointments to St. Stephen, NB; St. Vital, MB; Smith Falls, ON and Weetamah Corps, Winnipeg. She was commissioned as Captain February 28, 1993 and from the Weetamah appointment, Elaine entered retirement with her husband for health reasons, retiring in Brandon. Elaine enjoyed working with Womens Ministry. She was also involved with Youth Ministry and enjoyed doing crafts for others. Left to mourn her passing are: her husband, Lloyd; two sons and one daughter, Gordon and wife Terry of Winnipeg, Kenneth of Winnipeg, Barbara Carmichael and husband Douglas of Brandon. There are two grandsons, Dylan and Brock Carmichael. She also leaves her parents, Mabel and Charles Williams of Frederiction, NB, formerly of Bay Road, St. Stephen, NB; two sisters, Dawn Cobb of Fredericton, NB and Lois (Charles) Bowie of Fredericton, NB; three brothers, Paul Williams of Toronto, James Williams (Andrea) of Brighton, ON, and Warren Williams (Joyce) of Riverview, NB. There are several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will take place at the Brandon Cemetery on Tuesday, July 11, 2000, followed by a Service of Celebration honouring Elaine, which will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel, First Street & Princess Avenue, on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Major William Loveless will officiate. Flowers are respectfully declined. Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to the Salvation Army Child Sponsorship Program, c/o Salvation Army Citadel, P.O. Box 22067, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 6Y9. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
