LUISA "LUCY" MEJILLANO HINAYO It is with great sadness that the family of Luisa Mejillano Hinayo announces her passing on July 7, 2000, at the age of 53, in the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by her family after a lengthy, brave and courageous battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Andy, and her two sons, Louie and Alan. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Annie M. Revita (Danny) of Virginia Beach, VA and their two daughters, Irene and Amy; Juliette M. Pollcar and her children Edward and Ann-Liezl; Ruby M. Mejillano; and her brother, Jose M. Mejillano (Evelyn) and their sons, Jose Marie and John-John; her brothers, sisters and cousins-in-law, and many nephews and nieces. She will also be remembered by her many friends near and far, especially by her coworkers and friends at the University of Manitoba and the majority of her relatives in the United States and the Philippines. Luisa was born in the Philippines on Thursday, August 22, 1946 and immigrated to Canada in 1972 with the main purpose of giving her family a better life as she unselfishly and untiringly helped her sisters and brother settle in Winnipeg. A person of great faith, Luisa was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was known not just for her "cooking prowess" but most of all for her kindness, simplicity and her love for others and for this, she will be greatly missed by many. Her family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation for all the care she received at Health Sciences Centre and Canadian Cancer Society of Manitoba. A sincere thanks to Dr. Richard Peters, especially to Dr. Angelo Luis and Mike, the nurse on duty in the emergency unit, for their help and efforts as we witnessed Luisas last draw of breath and peaceful death. Viewing (Lamay) will be held on Thursday and Friday, July 13 and 14 from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., with Prayers at 8:30 p.m. Both nights at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Saturday July 15 from St. Peters R.C. Parish, 748 Keewatin St. Msgr. M. Comeault P.H., V.F. celebrant and Rev. Fr. D. Parrenas con-celebrant. Burial to take place at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. West. You will always be in our hearts, Mom/Ate/Tita Lucy. You are in a better place now in Heaven with God where there is no more pain and suffering, yet peace and eternal life with Jesus Christ our Saviour. "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety" Psalm 4:8. KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
